Cross country
All of Year 2 and 3 are training for the cross country. We are enjoying cross country practises. We have talked about trying to 'do your best' and improve your own number of laps each day.
All the children have decided on a goal and are trying to run at least that number of laps every day. So far we have been very lucky with the weather and we are so impressed with the children's efforts and perseverance, especially on Wednesday when it started raining while we were running. Some children have not done this type of 'long distance' running before but they are all trying so hard!

The children have enjoyed their first week back, especially our 'Puss n Boots' show on Wednesday morning. This sparked a lot of discussion for our Inquiry work on Drama.

Recorder
Jo and Celia showed us lots of different sized recorders this week. They had very big recorders and tiny recorders. Thanks to Jo and Celia for all their teaching. We have learned to play Hot Cross Buns.
Today was the last whole class recorder lesson from Jo. Vanessa and Eleanor will be teaching their classes recorder next term.
Jo will be at school next term teaching recorder to a small group. Children who are interested will be able to 'audition' next term. We are very fortunate that there is no cost for these lessons.

Today the children enjoyed participating in our school tabloid sports. The children loved the activities and worked well with their house teams. The activities included: Gumboot throw, water relays, egg and spoon race and many more. Well done ROOM 9 and ROOM 10 children.
Maths
We have been practising addition and subtraction for maths. We have been trying lots of different ways to solve addition and subtraction.
