Matariki

Soup for Matariki Week 10

This year we will be making soup as a part of our Matariki celebration. The children will make the soup on Thursday 6th of July and share it on Friday during discovery. If each child could bring in one small vegetable to go in the soup during week 10 this would be greatly appreciated! eg: a carrot, potato, leek etc

We are also very lucky to be having senior children coming to teach us weaving for Matariki this year.

Parent Interviews

Week 9 Learning Conferences
26th, 27th and 28th of June

Please ensure you book a learning conference with either Eleanor or Vanessa to catch up about your child's progress. It is important to meet and set new goals for the second half of the year and reflect on their progress thus far. If you cannot make the scheduled times please don't hesitate to come in and see us to make other arrangements. It is a very positive experience for the children to share their learning and progress.
Don't forget to bring your learning portfolio to the interview. Thank you for all your support with your child's learning, we look forward to seeing you all next week.

Look at our maths problem solving!

We had a special visit from Carol, our visiting maths specialist, this week. She encouraged the children to think of themselves as "junior mathematicians". We need to be able to think and talk with a buddy about how we solve maths problems.

Look at our photos of how we shared our ideas about ways we could work out what animals could have different numbers of legs. You could try it at home.
We talked about how there is more than one correct answer and how we can record our answers in different ways.
Carol suggested we use felt pens to record our answers if we want to take photos of our work to share on the big screen!
